Massage and Ill Health

Massage therapy may sound too vigorous when we have ill health. But massage can be adjusted to the needs of the individual, as taught by Gayle MacDonald on the workshop ‘Massage For People Living With Cancer’ (author of Medicine Hands). Our bodies heal best when we are relaxed. This massage / touch therapy aims to nurture and support healing and energy levels, to maintain / build / enhance health.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a series of movements working on the soft tissues - stretching, loosening muscles and connective tissue, to either soothe and relax or invigorate and stimulate. Massage can relieve pain due to muscle spasm, improve and restore function and movement, de-stress and improve the overall wellbeing of the recipient. Swedish massage is the basic level of massage, but if you have a specific issue, a sports and remedial therapy may be recommended.
